On July 27, 2016, the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Houston (IACCGH) hosted an interesting and informative seminar entitled, “How to Make Your Business Grow Using LinkedIn.” The focus of the seminar included how to use the popular social networking site as a tool for not only recruitment but as a tool for exponential business growth.
Siva Yenneti, the director of local Houston web design company ITVibes–long-standing and active member of IACCGH–hosted the seminar.
Siva opened his presentation by admitting that social media sites such as LinkedIn are a newer way to find fresher talent, adding that “sales pitches are boring and dead,” and offering that LinkedIn is an ideal way to “showcase your products, your value proposition, and your services.”
LinkedIn is a free social networking tool, although users can upgrade their membership to integrate and connect deeper within the network. Even as a free tool, Siva offers that connecting to others within the site is useful not only for networking but for recruitment and finding fresh talent, saying “[LinkedIn] connects you not just to one person but their entire network too.”
During the seminar itself, he walked the audience through many of the useful features of the networking site, showing how you are able to easily use features such as Advanced Search, Sales Solutions, and Profile Stats to network seamlessly through the site, viewing both contacts and connects.
Siva admitted that in order for the site to be useful, users must visit it regularly, and keep their information up to date. One of the best tools, he says, that LinkedIn can provide is the ability to connect you with others, with the outcome that “sales would happen as a byproduct.” This simple and easy way to connect foregoes the sales pitch.
After the presentation, Siva received a certificate of appreciation for his outstanding presentation and his contribution to the IACCGH community as a whole.
