How You Can Stay Busy During Quarantine

It’s hard to escape the uneasy feeling when you’re stuck working from home with a house full of kids (and pets). From COVID-19 newscasts to unemployment rates rising, anxiety is a common theme among people right now. Keep stress and anxiety at bay by planning your day and incorporating some relaxing self-care activities into your routine.

  1. Read or Listen to a Book
  2. Get Creative
  3. Home Spa Day

1) Read or Listen to a Book

Are there any topics you’d love to learn more about? Do you want to pick up a new skill or trade such as digital marketing? Reading gives you an opportunity to occupy time while learning something new. Alternatively, you can read a fictional tale to escape everyday life and spark your imagination. Cozy up under the covers or make a peaceful reading nook with your newfound free time. If you’re not keen on reading, you can listen to an audiobook or podcast.

2) Get Creative

If you’re feeling inspired, create something new:

  • Get the yarn out and learn how to crochet or finish the scarf you started last winter.
  • Paint or draw a picture. If you’re not confident in your artistic skills, you can watch a YouTube video and impress yourself with some art.
  • Frame some family photos and arrange them on your walls.
  • Propagate some of your plant babies.
  • Bake some sweet treats and practice decorating them.
  • Practice your hand in calligraphy.

Pro Tip: Feeling stir crazy? Channel your pent up emotions into art, baking, or decorating your home.

3) Home Spa Day

While the salons and spas are closed right now, you can still make your own spa day at home! Light some candles, run a bubble bath with Epsom salts or bath bomb, put a face mask on, and get the nail polish out. Dim your lights, turn on some calm music, and take some time for yourself.
